This equipment tests hypoxic conditions induced by low pressure and/or displacement of oxygen with other gases. A PLC and laptop computer provide equipment control and data logging functionality. A vacuum pump with a VFD precisely controls the pressure decrease rate.
Field devices include IR and electrochemical cells for gas concentrations, flow meters and a pressure transducer.

Overview
This chamber has a 6 ft door and is rated for full vacuum. A gas pump and instrumentation mount on the chamber side. One of the laptops collects video and audio recordings. The other laptop runs the custom-designed control system and data logging software.

Control Skid
The software precisely controls the rate of vacuum applied to the chamber by controlling the speed of the vacuum pump. Flex connections and filters reduce the system noise. Expansion tanks and metering systems allow for fast and frost-free use of oxygen-displacing gases that are shipped in liquid form.
